About Chris

- One minute read - 179 wordsThis organization was created in honor of Harlan ‘Chris’ Squier and was founded by his family members and close friends. As an adolescent Chris struggled with substance use and made several unsuccessful attempts to get clean at traditional rehabilitation facilities. It was not until Chris was admitted to a wilderness therapy program in the mountains of North Carolina that he was able to achieve lasting sobriety. The serenity of North Carolina’s natural beauty and the compassion of the program’s therapists and guides led Chris to a spiritual experience that placed him on the path to recovery. Chris remained sober for over 6 years. During his time in sobriety, Chris went on to become a guide at a wilderness therapy program for youths and made a positive impact on the lives of hundreds of young people. As a wilderness guide, Chris discovered that his true calling was helping others. Chris lost his battle with addiction in early 2023. He was 27 years old. Chris’ legacy lives on with the staff and clients of the therapeutic programs whose lives he touched.
